Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, I love that cozy feeling that I get from cuddling up on the couch with a good book and crackling logs in the chimney (or a fake fireplace app, for those of us without a fireplace). Living in Los Angeles, it’s funny to see how excited people get when the weather cools down. Let’s just say that “cool” is a relative term. It can literally be 69.5 degrees out and I will see people wearing down coats, hats and scarves.
Fall also gets me thinking about new skincare options. Changes in weather can wreak havoc on our skin, especially when it gets cooler outside. Home heaters tend to make skin look really dry and flaky, which is not exactly the makeup trend of the season (I checked). With that in mind, I am always on the lookout for products that give the skin a little boost.
My friend Mary Beth recently gifted me with a bottle of Nerium Age Defying Treatment because she thought I would enjoy it. The treatment contains extracts of the Nerium oleander plant, which allegedly does amazing things for the skin. Their website promises some impressive results, like improvements in wrinkles, discoloration, and texture. Of course, I take these promises with a grain of salt but am willing to try anything.
Mary Beth suggested that I take a “before” photo of my skin, and an “after” photo once I’d used the products for a few weeks. I agreed and took closeup “before” photos, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for exciting new ways to criticize yourself.
While watching old episodes of Golden Girls (don’t judge me!), I used a few pumps on my freshly washed face right before bed. The lotion has a light, herbal scent that I liked. I ended up going through the entire bottle before taking my “after” photos, admittedly because I was not looking forward to taking more glamorous shots of my pores.
I finally got around to taking the “after” shots yesterday, and I have to admit that I’m impressed. There was a noticeable reduction in the wrinkle between my eyes, which was my major concern. I did not notice much of a difference in my freckles or skin tone, but the wrinkle reduction alone was worth it for me.
Feel free to check out their website for more information, and here is a link if you’d like to purchase some for yourself.
